In response to the widespread impact of Hurricane Melissa, Worthy Park Estate Limited has launched 'Powered by Rum-Bar', a community relief initiative aimed at helping restore livelihoods and connectivity in some of the island's most affected areas.

Led by its flagship brand Rum-Bar, the initiative will donate 100 generators to 100 community bars across parishes hardest hit by the storm. Recognising rum bars as more than places of recreation, the project acknowledges their role as vital community hubs, providing spaces for connection, commerce, and information sharing, especially in times of hardship.

Distribution officially began on December 17, 2025, with the project team donating generators to several community bars across western parishes already impacted by prolonged power outages. The initiative will continue in the coming weeks, reaching additional locations as part of a phased regional roll-out.

"Community bars are deeply woven into the fabric of Jamaican life, and for Worthy Park Estate Limited and its rum brands, it is of great importance that we help communities stand strong," said Tamika West, marketing manager. "Powered by Rum-Bar is about restoring power, supporting small business owners, and helping communities get back on their feet."

This commitment to community, culture, and craft is also reflected at the Worthy Park Estate Rum Tour, which offers visitors an immersive experience into the history, artistry, and heritage of Jamaican rum-making. Nestled within the lush landscapes of the estate, the tour provides rum enthusiasts and visitors alike with a deeper appreciation of the traditions that have shaped Jamaica's rum industry and the communities connected to it, making it a must-visit cultural experience for anyone exploring the island.

The initiative forms part of Rum-Bar and Worthy Park Estate's broader commitment to community resilience, national recovery, and responsible corporate citizenship. Distribution is prioritising areas across St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St James, Trelawny, and Hanover, where extended power outages have significantly affected economic activity and daily life.

For Rum-Bar and Worthy Park, rebuilding after a storm means more than restoring infrastructure; it means reviving the places where people gather, support one another, and keep local economies moving. The roll-out of Powered by Rum-Bar will continue over the coming weeks, guided by community engagement and local partnerships.
