Fambo open to Beenie Man reunion

Although their relationship has become strained in recent times, Future Fambo said he has no intention of disrespecting Beenie Man or diminishing the veteran deejay’s contribution to dancehall.
The pair, who were once close friends and enjoyed major success with their 2010 collaboration, Rum and Red Bull, have found themselves at odds following a series of public disputes. 
Tensions intensified in May after Fambo accused Beenie Man of assaulting him at an event, an allegation Beenie Man firmly denied, describing it as “false, malicious and defamatory” and threatening legal action. Fambo later reignited the dispute by publicly claiming that his contributions to some of Beenie Man’s recordings, including Rum and Red Bull and Who Am I (Sim Simma), had not been properly recognised.
Despite the fallout, Fambo maintained that he still has respect for Beenie Man’s musical legacy.
“People love drama and love excitement, but I wish him no harm, you understand? He’s a big star. You’ll never hear derogatory things coming out of my mouth towards him. I may rib him a little, but me nah disrespect him,” he said.
And while their friendship may have soured, Fambo said he would not rule out the possibility of the two artistes sharing a stage again or even creating another hit collaboration.
“The Lord forgives, so we too should forgive, because we are followers of Christ. So if God forgives you, then you can forgive anybody,” he said.
He referenced the old Jamaican proverb, ‘No mug no bruk, no cawfee no dash weh’, meaning that despite their differences, nothing is permanently broken between them and there is still a chance for reconciliation.
“Yeah, me and him can perform together on the same stage,” Fambo said. “If him start sing Rum and Red Bull, yes, I can join him on stage. I don’t have nothing against him.”
The road to reconciliation, however, may not be an easy one. Beenie Man reportedly walked off the stage at Boom Sundays after Fambo joined him, handing the microphone to selector Boom Boom before leaving the performance area. 
For Fambo, reconciliation ultimately comes down to love and forgiveness. He said that if Beenie Man reciprocates that spirit, there is still room for them to work together again, while acknowledging that ego can sometimes lead people to make poor decisions.
“He’s an awesome person,” Fambo said. “He used to be my best friend. What he needs to do is just buy a big house and invite over all his kids and cook a big pot a food and mek everybody eat and just be happy. If that nuh work, then maybe him haffi trim off the kata offa him head because inna the middle gone,” he said.
Despite his talk of forgiveness, Fambo could not resist taking a few playful digs at Beenie Man, joking that the deejay needs to “reinvent his image” and poking fun at his appearance and wardrobe. 
“The suit dem wey him a wear a night-time inna this summer heat yah, doesn’t make sense,” Fambo said.
He pointed out that Beenie Man and his manager, Steven Davis, are cousins, making the two entertainers connected through family ties.
“Just know God is love, and once Steven Davis talk to Moses Davis and dem rent a car from Avis, then we all good,” Fambo said.
Beenie Man recently shed light on the breakdown of his once-close relationship with Fambo, revisiting an incident from years ago that he said contributed to his decision to distance himself from the entertainer. According to Beenie Man, Fambo used drugs in the presence of his young daughter, something he does not approve of. Fambo subsequently pushed back, saying that the child was only eight months old at the time. He also acknowledged that he battled a drug problem during that period and said that chapter of his life has since closed.
The discussion comes ahead of Beenie Man’s Summer Sizzle, this Saturday at the Woodleigh Sports Complex in May Pen, Clarendon, where Fambo is hoping to perform.
“I’m willing to perform at Summer Sizzle because the fans would love that,” the Give Thanks artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR. “Love is the key, you know; no matter what people think, there’s no hate in me. While I won’t friend the man, I will show him love.”
