It has been eight years since Dorrell McCarthy-Coley claimed she was dragged to the floor by a co-worker from whom she still has not got redress.

McCarthy, 58, said that the incident happened because she asked for $60 that was owed to her.

"One day, one a me co-worker ask me for $60 to buy something. When she ready to give me back, she give another co-worker to give me. The lady call me and tell me she gave her the money to give me," she said. "I asked her for it and she nuh pay me no mind. Me walk away. Me see her in the lunch room and tell her to buy sup'm wid the money for me, she didn't reply. So I walked away."

But McCarthy-Coley was shocked when she was grabbed from behind and flung down a flight of stairs, allegedly by the woman.

McCarthy-Coley told The STAR that because of the fall, she has been experiencing a number of medical problems.

"I went to a series of private doctors back in 2010-2011 after the incident happened and when I could not afford it anymore, I started going to the clinic," she said. "The doctors told me that I damaged my waist and my ankle when I fell and that is the reason I walk like a handicap."

However, while the Half-Way Tree police confirmed the incident, they said that no arrest has been made because of lack of evidence as the lone eyewitness died and it is unclear whether he made a statement.

She contemplated legal action but said lawyers advised her that without anyone being charged, she cannot sue.

McCarthy-Coley, who was married for five years, said her husband died in 2011. But she could not collect his pension because that goes to his previous wife.

She stated that as a result, she is not in a financially stable position to continue doing the checkups and tests required.

"I have five children and they help me now and then when they can. Right now, I have to be wearing a waistband to support my spine," she said. "There are days when I am in pain, but I can't do any better right now."
